Traditional New Orleans Jazz With A 21st Century Flavor
New Orleans Helsinki Connection is a group of New Orleans and Helsinki based musicians that play traditional New Orleans jazz with a youthful 21st century touch. Its members represent the very best of this style in their homelands and have been playing together in various bands for years. In the summer of 2002, a long time dream of a joint band finally became reality. The band had a successful three-week tour in Finland. In the fall of 2003, New Orleans Helsinki Connection headed in to the studio, and the new, aptly titled CD "At Last" came out in April 2004. Since then, the NOHC has been often heard on the WWOZ jazz station (also live from Satchmo Fest 2008) and the CD is available again after being out of print for some time. In August 2004, the NOHC performed very successfully at Sildajazz Festival in Haugesund, Norway, at Lahden Jazztori Festival in Lahti, Finland and at Storyville Jazz Club in Helsinki, Finland. The band has been seen in New Orleans for example at the French Quarter Festival (2005-2007), Satchmo Fest (2008), Columns Hotel, National Historical Park, and at Donna's Bar & Grill.

Jones, Leroy - Leroy Jones
A member of the New Orleans Jazz Hall of Fame, Jones was leader at the tender age of 12, of the seminal Fairview Band, a brass band whose alumni have included some of the best-known musicians in New Orleans. It was the Fairview Brass Band that is widely credited with restoring interest in the brass band tradition of New Orleans. Today, in fact, New Orleans has more brass bands performing than at any time in the city's history – an achievement that can be traced back directly to the Fairview Band and its successor the Leroy Jones Hurricane Brass Brand.
A regular performer at Preservation Hall in New Orleans and a featured performer in the Harry Connick Jr Orchestra, where his playing and singing have made him a crowd favorite, Leroy has performed on every continent and in every major U.S. city at prestigious theaters, festivals and jazz clubs like the Village Vanguard in New York City. His television appearances include The Tonight Show, Good Morning America, Late Night with David Letterman, The Today Show, Arsenio Hall, Conan O'Brien and Oprah Winfrey. He is also a regular at the world famous New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, as well as French Quarter Fest and the Satchmo Summerfest.
He has also appeared on the soundtrack of the smash hit movie "Sleepless in Seattle" starring actor Tom Hanks.
Leroy has also released a series of highly regarded CDs including "Props For Pops" his tribute to Louis Armstrong, "Back To My Roots", "Mo’ Cream From The Crop" and "Soft Shoe". He has appeared on numerous recordings with other artists such as Dr. John, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Anders Osborne, Chuck Carbo, Spirit of New Orleans, John Boutté, Lillian Boutté, Paul Sanchez, Danish Radio Big Band, Guillaume Nouaux and many, more others.

Toivola, Katja - Leroy Jones Quintet
The Leroy Jones Quintet was formed during the 1980s. But the band's first real international exposure came when it was the opening act for Harry Connick, Jr.'s "She" tour. The Quintet has toured the United States, Canada, South America and Australia. After releasing two critically acclaimed recordings on the Columbia label, the band toured on it's own, performing at festivals and club dates throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe, and has appeared on NBC's "Tonight Show". The quintet has also made numerous appearances at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
The Leroy Jones Quintet performs an energetic swing style that encompasses both old and new jazz idioms.

Brian Stoltz has released four solo albums, has toured and recorded with Rock ‘n Roll Royalty and has performed on a string of recordings - playing, producing or writing for various artists. Basing his art on street virtuosity, raw emotion and a stinging signature style, he is becoming known as New Orleans' premiere guitarist and songwriter extraordinaire.
While touring, writing and recording throughout the 80’s with the world-renowned Neville Brothers Band and for fourteen years with The funky Meters, Brian has created unique, original bodies of work. In addition to being in demand as a phenomenal guitarist, his skill as a songwriter has caught the attention of artists like Aaron Neville, The Neville Brothers, Coco Montoya, The Wild Magnolias, Zydeco artist Zachary Richard and writer/film director’s John Sayles and Alex Lemay.
Brian’s unmistakable sound has been featured on recordings by artists as diverse as Bob Dylan, Edie Brickell, Linda Ronstadt, the Neville Brothers, Dr. John, The funky Meters and Aaron Neville. This panoramic career also includes the release of four solo albums including Up All Night/Live (2007), God, Guns & Money (2005) and East Of Rampart Street (2002) and the now out-of-print Starving Buddha (1999).
His television appearances with various artists include The Tonight Show (with Jay Leno & Johnny Carson), Saturday Night Live, Late Night with David Letterman, Austin City Limits, Cinemax and Showtime specials, and concerts with the Grateful Dead. Ever socially conscious, Brian toured, along with the Neville Brothers, U2, Peter Gabriel, the Police and Lou Reed as the torch-bearers of the first Amnesty International Tour in 1986 to raise consciousness of the fate of political prisoners around the world.
Stoltz has received awards from CMJ (College Music Journal) and the New Music Corporation for Lifetime Achievement. His co-written Healing Chant, performed by the Neville Brothers, won a Grammy for Best Pop Instrumental in 1991. Brian was nominated for a 2004 Grammy in the Best Traditional Blues category for his solo rendition of You Gotta Move on Telarc Records’ Preachin’ The Blues: The Music Of Mississippi Fred McDowell.
He has performed in numerous music videos and his songs and performances have found their way to film soundtracks such as John Sayles' City of Hope, Alex Lemay’s Desert Bayou, nominated for the 2008 Image Award (theatrical and television) and the film, Cyrus: Mind of a Serial Killer by Mark A. Vadik.

Arsement, Ganey - Salty Bayou Music
Born and raised in the city of Lake Charles located in the Southwest corner of Louisiana, Ganey was surrounded by a variety of musical influences such as Cajun, Creole, Zydeco, Blues, Country & Western and Texas Swing. Ganey's family migrated to this area in 1950s in search of work, but despite growing up nearly 100 miles from the hub of Cajun country, the music he creates is, without a doubt, Cajun.
For nearly twenty years, Ganey has been involved in the Cajun music scene. In 1996, he joined the Grammy nominated group, The Basin Brothers, and played bass with them for nearly two years. It was late 1997 when Ganey joined Balfa Toujours, a group founded by the daughter of the world famous Cajun fiddler, Dewey Balfa. It was with this group that Ganey had the opportunity to tour the world. During his time with Balfa Toujours, he played traditional Cajun music is 43 states, Canada, England, Ireland, Mexico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Some of the venues played during that time include the Newport Folk Festival, the Winnipeg Folk Festival, The Edmonton Folk Festival, MerleFest, The Vancouver Folk Festival, Festival Acadiens and the Festivale du Voyageur.
Always a strong supporter of traditional Cajun music, Ganey doesn't concern himself with being "Cajun enough." As an artist, he believes that it is necessary to create from life experiences, and his life encompasses so much more than Cajun life.
As an artist, Ganey can be summed up with three words. Songwriter. Musician. Cajun.

Traditional New Orleans Jazz With A 21st Century Flavor
New Orleans Helsinki Connection is a group of New Orleans and Helsinki based musicians that play traditional New Orleans jazz with a youthful 21st century touch. Its members represent the very best of this style in their homelands and have been playing together in various bands for years. In the summer of 2002, a long time dream of a joint band finally became reality. The band had a successful three-week tour in Finland. In the fall of 2003, New Orleans Helsinki Connection headed in to the studio, and the new, aptly titled CD "At Last" came out in April 2004. Since then, the NOHC has been often heard on the WWOZ jazz station (also live from Satchmo Fest 2008) and the CD is available again after being out of print for some time. In August 2004, the NOHC performed very successfully at Sildajazz Festival in Haugesund, Norway, at Lahden Jazztori Festival in Lahti, Finland and at Storyville Jazz Club in Helsinki, Finland. The band has been seen in New Orleans for example at the French Quarter Festival (2005-2007), Satchmo Fest (2008), Columns Hotel, National Historical Park, and at Donna's Bar & Grill.

A member of the New Orleans Jazz Hall of Fame, Jones was leader at the tender age of 12, of the seminal Fairview Band, a brass band whose alumni have included some of the best-known musicians in New Orleans. It was the Fairview Brass Band that is widely credited with restoring interest in the brass band tradition of New Orleans. Today, in fact, New Orleans has more brass bands performing than at any time in the city's history – an achievement that can be traced back directly to the Fairview Band and its successor the Leroy Jones Hurricane Brass Brand.
A regular performer at Preservation Hall in New Orleans and a featured performer in the Harry Connick Jr Orchestra, where his playing and singing have made him a crowd favorite, Leroy has performed on every continent and in every major U.S. city at prestigious theaters, festivals and jazz clubs like the Village Vanguard in New York City. His television appearances include The Tonight Show, Good Morning America, Late Night with David Letterman, The Today Show, Arsenio Hall, Conan O'Brien and Oprah Winfrey. He is also a regular at the world famous New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, as well as French Quarter Fest and the Satchmo Summerfest.
He has also appeared on the soundtrack of the smash hit movie "Sleepless in Seattle" starring actor Tom Hanks.
Leroy has also released a series of highly regarded CDs including "Props For Pops" his tribute to Louis Armstrong, "Back To My Roots", "Mo’ Cream From The Crop" and "Soft Shoe". He has appeared on numerous recordings with other artists such as Dr. John, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Anders Osborne, Chuck Carbo, Spirit of New Orleans, John Boutté, Lillian Boutté, Paul Sanchez, Danish Radio Big Band, Guillaume Nouaux and many, more others.

Brian Stoltz has released four solo albums, has toured and recorded with Rock ‘n Roll Royalty and has performed on a string of recordings - playing, producing or writing for various artists. Basing his art on street virtuosity, raw emotion and a stinging signature style, he is becoming known as New Orleans' premiere guitarist and songwriter extraordinaire.
While touring, writing and recording throughout the 80’s with the world-renowned Neville Brothers Band and for fourteen years with The funky Meters, Brian has created unique, original bodies of work. In addition to being in demand as a phenomenal guitarist, his skill as a songwriter has caught the attention of artists like Aaron Neville, The Neville Brothers, Coco Montoya, The Wild Magnolias, Zydeco artist Zachary Richard and writer/film director’s John Sayles and Alex Lemay.
Brian’s unmistakable sound has been featured on recordings by artists as diverse as Bob Dylan, Edie Brickell, Linda Ronstadt, the Neville Brothers, Dr. John, The funky Meters and Aaron Neville. This panoramic career also includes the release of four solo albums including Up All Night/Live (2007), God, Guns & Money (2005) and East Of Rampart Street (2002) and the now out-of-print Starving Buddha (1999).
His television appearances with various artists include The Tonight Show (with Jay Leno & Johnny Carson), Saturday Night Live, Late Night with David Letterman, Austin City Limits, Cinemax and Showtime specials, and concerts with the Grateful Dead. Ever socially conscious, Brian toured, along with the Neville Brothers, U2, Peter Gabriel, the Police and Lou Reed as the torch-bearers of the first Amnesty International Tour in 1986 to raise consciousness of the fate of political prisoners around the world.
Stoltz has received awards from CMJ (College Music Journal) and the New Music Corporation for Lifetime Achievement. His co-written Healing Chant, performed by the Neville Brothers, won a Grammy for Best Pop Instrumental in 1991. Brian was nominated for a 2004 Grammy in the Best Traditional Blues category for his solo rendition of You Gotta Move on Telarc Records’ Preachin’ The Blues: The Music Of Mississippi Fred McDowell.
He has performed in numerous music videos and his songs and performances have found their way to film soundtracks such as John Sayles' City of Hope, Alex Lemay’s Desert Bayou, nominated for the 2008 Image Award (theatrical and television) and the film, Cyrus: Mind of a Serial Killer by Mark A. Vadik.

Born and raised in the city of Lake Charles located in the Southwest corner of Louisiana, Ganey was surrounded by a variety of musical influences such as Cajun, Creole, Zydeco, Blues, Country & Western and Texas Swing. Ganey's family migrated to this area in 1950s in search of work, but despite growing up nearly 100 miles from the hub of Cajun country, the music he creates is, without a doubt, Cajun.
For nearly twenty years, Ganey has been involved in the Cajun music scene. In 1996, he joined the Grammy nominated group, The Basin Brothers, and played bass with them for nearly two years. It was late 1997 when Ganey joined Balfa Toujours, a group founded by the daughter of the world famous Cajun fiddler, Dewey Balfa. It was with this group that Ganey had the opportunity to tour the world. During his time with Balfa Toujours, he played traditional Cajun music is 43 states, Canada, England, Ireland, Mexico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Some of the venues played during that time include the Newport Folk Festival, the Winnipeg Folk Festival, The Edmonton Folk Festival, MerleFest, The Vancouver Folk Festival, Festival Acadiens and the Festivale du Voyageur.
Always a strong supporter of traditional Cajun music, Ganey doesn't concern himself with being "Cajun enough." As an artist, he believes that it is necessary to create from life experiences, and his life encompasses so much more than Cajun life.
As an artist, Ganey can be summed up with three words. Songwriter. Musician. Cajun.
