Rebecca Ferris is co-owner and director of Cottage Films, a production company specializing documentaries, industrials and music videos. Rebecca has over 15 years of industry experience and lived and worked in New York for 13 years serving as a cameraperson, editor, and producer on many non-fiction projects. From 1999 through 2006, she worked as a staff producer with the renowned documentary film company, Pennebaker Hegedus Films, serving as associate producer on their films Startup.com, Only The Strong Survive, and Elaine Stritch at Liberty, which won two primetime Emmy Awards and was broadcast on HBO. In 2006, she produced Al Franken: God Spoke. As a cameraperson for the online music series, AOL Sessions, she filmed such artists as Robert Plant, Natalie Imbruglia, Me'Shell NdegéOcello, Nelly, and others. Rebecca filmed and edited interviews with British New Wave pioneers Depeche Mode for the DVD release of Depeche Mode 101 and worked with the filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen as an associate producer on the film Down From The Mountain. In 2004, she produced the program Fox vs Franken for the Sundance Channel’s series on the First Amendment. In 2005, Rebecca traveled through the U.S., Europe, and Taiwan to produce a film for the permanent collection at the Coca-Cola museum in Atlanta.
Rebecca's film Jonah and the Wail aired on the Independent Film Channel. Her most recent film, Miller's Tale is being broadcast on PBS stations nationwide. She is currently directing Can't Stop The Water, a film about Isle de Jean Charles, a disappearing community in the Louisiana wetlands.
